Plans for a sustainability diagnostic prototype

Every organisation is different when it comes to sustainability. The drivers will vary if you are a global manufacturer versus a largely office-based service company. Your capabilities will depend on how mature sustainability is in your organisation and how many people are working on it. Other factors, such as culture, leadership and budget, will make a difference to how you approach sustainability.  

 

Before you start engaging employees on your sustainability strategy or initiative it is a good idea to check your engagement plan really is the best course of action for your situation. OckiPro is developing a Sustainability Diagnostic tool, initially as a prototype, to help organisations do this. It assesses the sort of organisation your represent, where it is on its sustainability journey, and the factors that should be considered.

 

The ‘prototype’ diagnostic tool is designed to help organisations assess their corporate sustainability strategy and employee engagement in that strategy. In the first instance, it is best answered by the person responsible for implementing an organisation’s sustainability strategy.

 

At present we are building a set of questions and statements:

 

• the first eight questions will help us to categorise your organisation so we can contextualise your responses and create benchmarks; 
• questions 9-13 assess the current status of sustainability in your organisation, providing more context to your responses; and 
• the remaining eight questions assess your organisation’s capabilities in terms of planning, preparing, acting, embedding and measuring employee engagement in sustainability. 

 

The tool will be free to use, and OckiPro will assess your responses and provide a feedback report. 

 

OckiPro members will have the opportunity to invite other departments to complete questions 9-21 generating a 360° view of engagement across your organisation. 

 

We are trialling this prototype with the aim of developing an online tool that will also enable organisations to track progress of sustainability engagement over time and benchmark against others.

 

We expect to have the prototype ready by mid-2023, when the initial OckiPro membership is launched.
